When it Rains, it Pours

Sunday was a rough day for me. I'll have to admit I was feeling sorry for myself. Our computer crashed that morning (thus my blogs been untouched) but all I cared about were all the digital pictures I had taken over the past 6 months were lost. The rest we had backed up on a disk. I was back to square one, hating technology and my battle with computers. I thought getting high speed internet had solved that. My biggest concern were our family pictures we had just taken over Easter. I told Larry he couldn't shave his head until we took those. So just last Friday he shaved his head. He does that once a year. So if I wanted to redo those family photos, my husband would look like a Drill Sargent or a prison inmate. (I hate his head shaved!) I gave him his last hair cut and he looked pretty good I dare say.
Besides those pictures I have 2 of my sons birthdays, spring break in Mesquite, Christmas, dozens of girls camp pictures and misc.
The day got worse. Logan had been sick and so I needed to wash sheets and pillows. I don't normally do laundry on Sundays but this was an emergency. After getting my Sunday dress on I came out in the kitchen where my washing machine is and there was water everywhere. I guess I was being punished for washing on Sunday. And of course when one something bad happens, everything bad from the last few weeks comes flooding back. Hudson had lost his 2nd pair of glasses just 2 weeks after getting them, and on top of that, Friday he came home from school without his rec specs, perscription sports goggles. $200 down the drain. I also forgot about the Primary party on Friday that my kids missed and I was afraid of forgetting because I had forgotten the one before it also! TIerra also missed her Young Womans activity that week, not by choice. And there were a few personal issues with friends that were bugging me so I lost it Sunday morning and told Larry I was not going to church. (Like that would solve my problems!) ha ha He said this is when you really need it. So I went for my kids sake and it was pleasant, but did not take away my frustrations. I admit I'm being a whiner. When I look at all the sickness in South Weber and what so many people are going through, my little problems don't matter. But when you are actually going through your own rough times, it's hard to keep the perspective of "I'm better off than so and so". Instead I felt like "why me"?
Well I just have to eat my words again and say as of Tuesday, life has done a complete 180 for me. Larry saved our hardrive info and I have all my pictures are safe. He's an IT specialist but I still didn't think he could do it. Props. That afternoon my second grader Hudson made the top 3 in the Spelling Bee for the second time and will go on to compete against 3 grade levels. And the icing on the cake was while I was at the school I stopped in the office and found his glasses and rec specs. Then I took Parks to his soccer game and he scored a goal. That made 2 for him this season. His huge smile warms me right up. I shouldn't let little things bring me down but I'm sure they will again...ha ha
By saying "when it rains, it pours" I not only meant bad stuff comes in handfuls but the good does too. You know what? Life is good. Enjoy it while you can.

Happy Birthday Parks

Parks turned a big 5 April 17th. He had a busy day. Preschool in the morning and preschool in the afternoon. He had a soccer game that day and was running around with a big smile on his face. Parks loves life. His smile is contagious and his little turned up nose is sooo kissable.
The day after his birthday we took him to Chuck E Cheese's. He had a blast playing with his brothers and cousins, Nadia, Caleb and Jacob.
Parks is so excited for Kindergarten and thought he got to start the day he turned 5!

Skrapper is growing so big!

101 quirks about me

1. I LOVE French Fried Onions straight from the bag (the big bags from Sams Club) I snack on them like potato chips. I also love deep fried mushrooms from Warrens, Awesome Blossoms at Chili's and Szechwan chicken.
2. Picky eaters bug me. I'll try anything and like most everything, except cantaloupe.
3. I have worked at 20 different jobs since I was 16. All were part-time or seasonal.
4. It's a pet peeve of mine when adults misspell words. Not by accident, when they just can't spell.
5. I have to read in bed before going to sleep, no matter how late it is.
6. I'm proud of being frugal.
7. We've gone without TV for 3yrs. out of the 8 we've been married. We just got Direct TV. I hate it. I feel TV is a huge waste of time.
8. I love cruises and wish we could go on one every year! We've been to the Bahamas and the Mexican Riveria.
9.
10. I've had Laser Razor done on my legs. It didn't work. They are still prickly.
11. It's my dream to work at the Polynesian Center in Hawaii.
12. I think I have the best sense of humor. If you don't, yours sucks. Lighten up!
13. People who get offended easily annoy me.
14. School lunch's suck! They were yummy when I went to school. Why can't we go back to making them from scratch?
15. I've snorkled in the Bahamas and Cabo San Lucas.
16. I wish I could afford to get my hair done every 6 weeks like some people.
17. I've had my belly button pierced twice.

19. I ran away from home with a boyfriend when I was 16. We got as far as St. George.
20. I regret inducing labor with Parks. I like surprises. I don't find out what I'm having and I don't get started. That's just my rules. But I didn't want to miss Easter with my kids and I was already 9 days overdue. Do over!
21. I've taken piano lessons and still can't play. I'd like to play the harp.
22. I like white chocolate. I don't like the taste or smell of milk chocolate. Especially dark chocolate (which Larry loves). Chocolate jokes bug me.

29. I'm lucky Larry is so positive and laid back because I'm not.
30. I'm a complainer, but I hate when people think I'm a bad person for it.
Blogging this is very theraputic. aaahhhhh
31. Baking and I don't mix. I just waste my time and ingredients. I'm not a dessert lover anyway, so my poor kids go without. I do make sticky popcorn a lot. Yummy :)
32. I don't like when people count calories or talk about losing weight all the time. You can have just one cookie, it won't make you fat. It's usually the too skinny people who worry about it. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.

48. Green eyes are the bomb.
49. I'm stubborn, hold grudges a long time, and have a hard time saying I'm sorry. I guess that's where Hudson gets it from.

I think God made him so cute to make up for his handicap.
65. I'm still mad we aren't living in Honolulu.
66. Summer is my favorite season, but its olverwhelming because there is so much I want to do with my kids and I can never fit it all in.

69. I think Hairspray is the worst made movie ever. Tierra and Larry agree.
70. Hudson's sign is Cancer and I'm Pisces, we're supposed to get along.

75. It really burns me how people (mostly celebrities) don't support our President on the war issue. Notice the service men and women aren't the ones complaining, they know what they are fighting for and that's what makes our country so great (and free remember). I'm behind Bush 100%. Have we forgotten 9/11?
76. While cleaning house I always daydream of the layout of my future home.
77. I don't like it when other people are overprotective of my own kids (and even my dog) and tell them "don't go in the street", "don't climb on that", "be careful", "come back", "stay here" while I'm standing right there! I know what my kids (and dog) will and won't do, can and can't do. Worry about yourself. Paranoid people bug me.

To blog or not to blog

Well I'm eating my words as I type. I just found out about blogging about 1 week ago and came home and told my husband how ridiculous blogging was. Who wants to waste their time reading about people and their kids if you don't know them? Not to mention the time wasted writing about our mundane life when you don't know who is listening or cares? I referred to it as "My Space for adults." Well about 2 days later my niece who attends BYU Idaho and was staying with me for a week, went to visit a friend (the Boydens) who are now linked on my blog. Well they had explained how to blog to her and she came back to my house and we stayed up late that night creating my blog. Thanks Nadia. Now I'm obsessed. See I'm one of those weirdo's writing about my less than ordinary life for who knows who.
And thank you to Tiffany who mentioned it to me in the first place. (I still find it weird that people waste time reading about people they don't know.) But I'm not making my blog private yet so I'm open to anyone who wants to comment. And like Tiffany, I want to do this for my friends and family I don't see but want to keep in touch with and learn about them and their kids. You know who you are. I just hope I can explain how to get you to my blog. I still don't know how to search for other blogs myself. I know nothing except what is on my page currently. Nadia did the technical things so with her gone back to school it will probably stay this way-- under construction.
To tell you the truth, computers and I don't get along. I'd rather go back to the days without internet and cell phones. Crazy? No, just old fashioned. I remember when we first got cable TV. A good sized black box sitting on top of the television set and we had to get up to change the channel. We didn't know any different so it was great. Well those were the days. We had more time for family and the things that really mattered. The more technology we get the faster we can do things and the faster time flies but it seems we get less done in a day. It's a sign of the times. And it makes me sad.
But here I sit blogging...what next?

My Words Exactly...
